Child Health
Exclusion Periods for illnesses
Here at the Village Playgroup we want to protect the children and adults that attend our setting on daily basis. We appreciate that children have always got a runny nose or one thing or another, this is part of children`s development. However we have to give respect to those people that are vulnerable that enter our setting too, so in order to eliminate the spread of anything that would potentially make another person unwell we ask that the following be adhered to:
Common Cold- If discharge from the nose is green/yellow and your child is running a temperature we advise you keep them at home to rest.
Chicken Pox- Please keep them at home until scabs have formed over the spots and they are completely dry.
Conjunctivitis- If discharge is seeping from the eyes please keep your child at home until discharge stops.
Head Lice- If you know your child has head lice please keep them at home and treat with a recommended lotion. We advise you treat the whole family not just the one person as there is a good chance that other family members may be carrying them too.
Impetigo- Please keep your child at home until lesions are crusted and healed, or 48 hours after commencing antibiotic treatment.
Diarrhoea and/or vomiting- please keep at home 48 hours from last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.
The above are based on the most common illnesses, there will be times when other illnesses become apparent, if at all unsure please contact the setting to ask what our Policy and Procedure would be.
